VAL D'ISERE

Val d'Isere is ski resort in Savoie department in France and it is situated just 5 km away from Italy. This is very old village that dates back to before Roman times, but skiing here started in the 1930s. As in all places that were dominated by Savoyards, even in Val d'Isere you can see their architectural influence. Houses of different structures create perfect harmony of colors.
Very famous is Espace Killy. It is a ski area named after the skier Jean-Claude Killy, which has 300 km of pistes. It is known as Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World. Val d'Isere also offers awesome off-piste ski area. It can be amazing experience but also very dangerous.

Main type of transportation is bus shuttle that runs between villages every 5 minutes.
The closest airport is one in Geneva, about 150 km away. If you go by car you will need 3 hours to reach ski resort. There are also aero ski buses, minibuses and taxis that operate in that direction.
